Supporting St. Croix Local Businesses

Right now here in St. Croix our local economy needs support.  By doing this we need to support our local businesses.  By supporting our own local Virgin Island business it keeps the money within our community, and it also helps us to develop a better sense of our community as a whole.  Our local business are people who live in the community and they pride themselves in giving great products.  When we support our local businesses we are supporting one another, the local businesses will give back to the community as a whole also. As Virgin Islanders, we take pride in supporting our local own businesses.  Since moving back to St. Croix in the past four years, I try my best each day to support our local merchants.  Besides having my car serviced at a local Honda Dealership, which is locally owned, and our wonderful boutiques, I am a shopper, I find nice quality, unique items at my locally owned dress stores. Our local fishermen, and farmers offer us fresh fis...

Wishing All Father's A Happy Father's Day!

It is a year almost that I lost my Dad.  He died last year in July.  I miss him a lot, but I also have great memories of him. Up until the last, my Dad was always concerned about his family.  I think he must of known he was going to pass, because just before he died he gave me instructions of what to do.  After my Mom passed they were married for sixty two years, his will to live declined.  He wanted to go be with her.  My Mom passed in February and my Dad passed five months later. You see although my Dad is gone, he left me with wonderful memories.  He molded me to be the women that I am today.  He was there for all my graduations, a proud and supportive Dad.  He supported my dreams and listened to me when I just needed to talk.  He never held me back from doing the things I wanted to do.  He offered me words of wisdom and advise. I remember a few years back I told my dad I was going to try my hand at writing a book.  He ask...

Being Mindful of your Health

Image
Ok Diva's get off the couch and that chair behind the desk and start walking, or start doing Zumba.  What's it going to be?  Although I am retired, I still stay active.  Sometimes a little too active.  But that's another story for another day. Sitting too long during the day behind your desk, and then relaxing to look at a show on TV can increase your risk for diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases.  And while some of us who do not  like going to the GYM, you can get up and walk.  A cool walk in the morning, walking your dog for instance, and also taking a evening stroll helps. When I retired I took off some weight, but I am seeing that I have to take off some more.  Doing Zumba helped with the first weight off, and eating pretty healthy helped also, but the Diva here likes to go out and meet her other Diva friends, and we like to to have our glass of Wine, as we sit back and have a good time.  I have got to shed these other po...

Being A Diva Is Always Work In Progress

Do you sometimes feel stuck in a routine that it makes life boring at times?  Lately I am feeling that way.  So the Diva has got to add some spice to my life.  Sometimes adding a touch of variety to your life can break up that boring aspect of your life, and adding some spice makes it more adventurist. I was talking to a few people just yesterday, and we were talking about getting away from the daily grind for a day or two.  Watching our pennies and the way the economy has been,  planning those long trips might not be something we can do right away.  But just taking a day long retreat or doing something different can make a big difference.  Living here on a beautiful Island, we tend not to take advantage of even going on the beach.  You will be surprised at how many of us do not go the beach, and its right there free, and surrounds us.  We need to explore more, take advantage of all the free stuff to do in your island, or if you live in the...
