Being Mindful of your Health

Ok Diva's get off the couch and that chair behind the desk and start walking, or start doing Zumba.  What's it going to be?  Although I am retired, I still stay active.  Sometimes a little too active.  But that's another story for another day.
Sitting too long during the day behind your desk, and then relaxing to look at a show on TV can increase your risk for diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases.  And while some of us who do not  like going to the GYM, you can get up and walk.  A cool walk in the morning, walking your dog for instance, and also taking a evening stroll helps.
When I retired I took off some weight, but I am seeing that I have to take off some more.  Doing Zumba helped with the first weight off, and eating pretty healthy helped also, but the Diva here likes to go out and meet her other Diva friends, and we like to to have our glass of Wine, as we sit back and have a good time.  I have got to shed these other pounds....so talking to my favorite Zumba instructor
(If your on facebook go to Zumba St. Croix, or Zumba Sonsierz) she kindly told me to stop drinking the Coquito{http://latinfood.about.com/od/beverages/r/coquito.htm} and Wine.  Plus increase your work out.  Well! the Diva here is doing just that.  I am proud to say I left all the bad habits alone this week-end and put in some increased walking.
Divas, when we get older our metabolism starts to slow down, and we tend to sit more.  I write, and I have to make sure I get up often to walk or do some activity around the house.  Bottom line, you got to move it to lose it.  I find that going to Zumba and walking has helped me maintain a strong social network, give me  positive friends, it lifts my spirits and improve my health.  So if your in St. Croix come on and join me and the other Divas as we be mindful to our health.
